This amulet is made from hand carved and gilded rock crystal, and depict an eagle headed God. The original figure was carved in jasper on the reverse side of an ancient Gnostic magical gem sometime between the 1st - 6th C. It had quite an eclectic and international character as the imagery was mostly Egyptian, the letters Greek, the god's dress Roman, the angelic names Jewish and the carving and detail were carefully done and very fine. This would have been quite an expensive commission for that time, suggesting perhaps that the owner had some significant expectations of the gem's protective and amuletic powers.
Handmade in recycled 22k yellow gold and Brazilian Ataléia rock crystal. Length approximately 32mm W 15mm (L 1.3in W .6in). Chain is available separately.
