Horus is one of the most significant and recognizable of the ancient Egyptian gods, being the god of kingship, healing, protection, the sun and the sky. Different forms and mythological traditions of Horus were worshipped at different times, consistent with how the Egyptians viewed the multiple facets of reality.

As the god of the sky and son of Osiris, he was usually depicted as a falcon and his eyes were said to be the sun and the moon. An ancient myth describes a battle between Horus and Seth after Osiris's death, in which Seth stole one of Horus's eyes. Thoth magically restored the eye, and Horus made a gift of it to Osiris, who devoured the eye, and was restored to life. As a result the Eye of Horus became a powerful and enduring symbol of life and resurrection, healing and protection.

This Eye is hand carved and gilded on rock crystal and has a rhodolite garnet tear.

Made to order. Please allow 8-10 weeks.
