An unusually large, perfectly round, silver Maki-e pearl is beautifully decorated with tiny iridescent abalone shell tiles and 24 karat gold paint. The step pyramids of antiquity inspired the bejeweled cap decorated with tiny gold spheres. A soft blue iolite atop the pyramid echoes the cool blue, purples and pinks of abalone tiles set in the surface of this luminous silver 15.7mm Tahitian pearl.

Maki-e is a traditional Japanese painting technique developed over a millennia ago where lacquer is applied to surfaces and a pure gold or silver paint is mixed in for a flat or a raised ornamentation. Decorative mosaics are created from tiny abalone shell tiles, often accented with the same gold or silver paint. Many of the designs on the pearls are never repeated, giving a truly one-of-a-kind charm. A 20k gold clasp is included. Chain is available separately.
