Soft silver Maki-e pearls with green undertones are topped with cushion-like granulated gold spheres set with soft Malaia garnets. Maki-e is a traditional Japanese paint technique developed over a millennia ago where lacquer is applied to surfaces, and pure gold or silver paint is mixed in for flat or raised ornamentation. Often mosaics are added to the decorative pattern, created from tiny abalone tiles, frequently accented with the same gold or silver paint.
